Our lives entwine like knotty vines Deeply rooted in our mutual past, A time without you was never foreseen, Our friendship, we knew, would last. Once we had dolls or chased through trees, Now we oft dine out or spend, You know my tears, my secrets and fears, With you, I can be real or pretend. Without you, men would make no sense, I would never quite understand, When we have children I hope you are near, To lend a shoulder or a hand. Our lives entwine like knotty vines Deeply rooted in our mutual past, Our lives are enriched by the love that we share, Our friendship will ever last. © 2005 Dorothy Joan Riley
